Recipe for Greenlandic Cake

In Greenland, resources are sometimes limited because we are dependent on importing most of our goods. This was especially a challenge in the past, and this is how this Greenlandic cake came to be. It is soft, delicious and tastes heavenly.
200 g butter
9 dl milk, lukewarm
2 kg of flour
3 packets of dry yeast
200 g of sugar
2 eggs
200 g raisins
3 teaspoons salt
1 egg for egg wash
Granulated sugar (optional)
Melt butter and warm milk in a pan. Should not boil.
Mix the flour, dry yeast and sugar in a large bowl. Pour the butter and milk into the flour mixture and mix gently.
Add eggs, raisins and salt.
Knead the dough well.
Let the dough rest in the bowl under a cloth for approx 20 minutes.
Divide the dough into four equal pieces and shape them so they become oblong. Let them rest under a tea towel for 50 minutes.
